The Snow Factory level follows a very similar design philosophy to the Noir City. However, the Snow Factory is very much flipped on its head with the closer range areas being around the spawn locations and the more open area being towards the middle. Moreover, it is more of a rectangle shape. These areas are called: the Factory sector (left), the Trainwreck sector (middle), and the Village sector (right). The Factory and Village both follow the same core idea of closer range areas, but they are implemented differently. This is due to their difference in symmetries. The Factory is very symmetrical while the village isn’t. I made it this way because a simple difference like that can make gameplay feel very different. Finally, there is the Trainwreck and that is the middle centerpiece of the map. It features a lot more open lanes and sightlines with the trainwreck’s cargo serving as cover. Just like the Casino too, it has a vertical aspect to it with the railroad where the train is located (and kinda hanging off of).
Overall, these two maps follow very similar principles, but serve as mirrors of each other. urban and nature settings, open-closed-open and closed-open-closed layouts, and square and rectangle shapes. This way the variety of gameplay scenarios is still there to keep the player engaged. - Pablo Acosta
